MY  STORY

Hello,

My name is Kate Finkelstein, I am a graduate of the Wilson College of Textiles at NCSU with a degree in Fashion and Textile Management with a concentration in Brand Marketing. I was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. I attended an all girls boarding and day high school where I played volleyball and ran track. I was lucky to have found my career calling early after participating in the Summer Textile Exploration Program at NCSU during a summer break in high school. I was eager to start college to learn more about the apparel industry and was accepted into the college in December 2018.

While in school, I joined several organizations including NCSU Fashion Group, NCSU Entrepreneurship Program, National Charity League, and Sigma Kappa Sorority. I held leadership positions to become more involved with each organization because I wanted to connect with the community and make an impact on campus. I began working part-time as a beauty consultant at a local cosmetic boutique and spa the summer before my sophomore year until COVID-19 hit and the store shut its doors in April. Once the store reopened I was rehired on and over the course of four months was promoted to Visual Merchandiser and Content Creator.

This past summers I working at Kontoor Brands Inc. as the Brand Marketing Intern for Wrangler jeans. Kontoor gave me the unique learning opportunity of helping to organize and pitch a new men’s streetwear line to Walmart.  As part of this multi-function effort, I worked alongside the design, marketing, and merchandise team to create a cohesive storyline that would appeal to Walmart.  My mentors at Kontoor dramatically improved my marketing, teamwork and results measuring skills.

On a more personally note I have two cats, Sully and Dash, and enjoy trying new work out classes, coffee shops, and restaurants in my free time. I acquired my dads love of traveling at a young age and have a deep appreciate for different country's cultures. I recently travelled to the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany in December of 2022. A life long goal of mine is to learn another language as well as attend Paris Fashion Week. Fun fact about me is that I had open heart surgery as an infant to repair a heart murmur and have a pretty cool scar to show for it.
